It Moves By Itself

When triggered, it drives the broom across the floor in a wobbling, upright path that reads as a broom moving under its own will rather than a toy being pushed. Hard floors work best. Thick carpet slows the wheels and rugs with fringe will stop them, so pick a stretch of wood, tile or laminate with a few feet of clear run. The power switch is tucked up under the bristles, which is deliberate and also easy to miss on the first evening. Feel for it near the base of the handle before you decide the batteries are dead.
Waits For Footsteps
A motion sensor watches the space in front of the broom and starts the routine when someone crosses it. That timing is the whole effect.
